When to go & what to expect

Yosemite park-wide planning. Seasonal guidance is general; it does not confirm campground opening dates.

  • Spring: changing conditions

Lower elevations warm before the high country. Snow, rain and strong runoff can continue into spring.

  • Summer: warm days, cool nights

Valley afternoons can be hot. High-country camps stay cooler; afternoon thunderstorms are possible.

  • Fall & winter: watch access

Autumn weather can shift quickly. Snow and road restrictions shape winter trips; campground opening dates vary.
